7-Day Scenic Java Overland
     

Day 1: Arrive Jakarta
Touch down at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Following immigration and customs formalities, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day is free to relax and adjust to your new surroundings.

Day 2: Jakarta-Bandung
Depart Jakarta this morning for Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park, then on to Bogor, where you will visit the world famous Botanical Gardens. The drives continues to Puncak Pass – 5,000-feet up in the mountains, where spectacular views may be obtained of mountains, lush green valleys and hillside tea plantations. After lunch, you’ll pass through the mountain resort of Cipanas and beautiful rice fields, before arriving in Bandung late afternoon. (B/L)

Day 3: Bandung
Morning departure for Tangkuban Prahu - a volcano north of Bandung, where you’ll be driven right up to the rim of the crater to gaze down into steaming sea of sulfur and mud – a truly awe inspiring sight. Then on to Ciater hot springs, one of thermal spa’s nearby, where you may have the opportunity to bath in the warm, colored volcanic water. After lunch, proceed to Padasuka village, to enjoy an Angklung (bamboo musical instrument) workshop and performance, before returning to your hotel. (B/L)

Day 4: Bandung-Baturaden
Early morning you will depart for Baturaden in Central Java, with a stop Naga village – a typical Sundanese river village located in a picturesque valley, where you will be able to observe the local people going about their daily routine. A stop will also be made at Rajapolah – famous for its bamboo, rattan and pandanus handicrafts and some beautiful batik. Then the drive takes you through teak forests and vast rubber plantations. You’ll arrive in Baturaden in the late afternoon. (B/L)

Day 5: Baturaden-Yogyakarta
This morning you will drive through some of Central Java’s most beautiful scenery includes two special side tours. First visit is to the mysterious Dieng Plateau, where some of Java’s most ancient Hindu temples – small monuments no more than 50-feet high, stands among the sulfur fumes on the crater floor a still active volcano. After lunch, you’ll travel past lush rice terraces, tobacco plantations and breathtaking mountain scenery to Yogyakarta, where you’ll be arriving in the late afternoon. (B/L)






Day 6: Yogyakarta
Your tour today includes a visit to the Sultan’s Royal Palace, the Batik Home Industry and silversmith at Kota Gede. After lunch, proceed to the magnificent Borobudur temple complex. Built in the 8th century, this famous temple stands serenely on hill, overlooking lush field and contains the world’s largest collection of Buddhist relief sculpture, which is presented on the walls of its seven terraces. Day 7: Departure Yogyakarta
This morning you will drive to the spectacular 9th century Hindu temple complex – the Loro Jongrang at Prambanan, reputed to be the biggest and most beautiful temple in the whole of Indonesia. Also you’ll stops at Kalasan and Sari temples – one of Java’s oldest Buddhists shrines. This tour terminates at Yogyakarta’s Adi Sucipto Airport, to connect with your flight to the destination. (B)
